SiteKey is a visitor sign in system for New Zealand workplaces. Visitors scan a QR code with their phone camera or sign in at a tablet kiosk, read the hazards for your site and sign in. Their host gets an email, the kiosk can print a visitor badge, and everyone signed in goes onto a live evacuation list. An office or school is $30 a month, excluding GST, with no limit on visitors.

$30 a month for an office

Visitor sign in for an office or school is $30 a month, excluding GST. A worksite is $50 a month and each extra site is $10 a month. There is no charge per visitor, per sign in or per device. Setup is a fixed price we quote for your site. Full pricing is on the homepage.

Step 2

On the evacuation list

They show on the live list until they sign out.

Sign in on a phone or at a tablet kiosk

Visitors use whichever suits them at the door. Both end up on the same on-site list.

QR code on their own phone

A QR sign at the entrance opens the sign in form in the phone browser. Nothing to install, no account to create.

Tablet kiosk at reception

A kiosk at the front desk signs visitors and contractors in and out. Regular visitors and staff can scan a personal QR pass.

Registered before they arrive

Register expected visitors and contractors in advance, so on the day they only scan and go.

Walk-in visitors enter their name and company, choose who they are visiting, read the hazards you have listed for the site and complete a short site induction if you require one. When they leave they sign out on their phone or at the kiosk. Anyone who forgets is signed out at the end of the day.

Host notification when a visitor arrives

The visitor picks the person they are visiting from your staff list, or types the name if that person is not listed. SiteKey sends the host an email as soon as the visitor signs in, with the visitor’s name and company.

Visitor badges printed at the kiosk

With a label printer at the reception kiosk, SiteKey prints a visitor badge as each person signs in. The badge shows the visitor’s name and company, who they are visiting, the date and time and a pass number. It carries a barcode, and on the way out the visitor scans it at the desk to sign out. The label is sized to your printer and can carry your logo.

A live evacuation list

Everyone signed in shows on a live list you can open on any phone or tablet, with name, company and time in. If the alarm goes, the person running the evacuation opens that list at the assembly point and checks people off. Visitors who signed in on their phone and visitors who came through the kiosk are on the same list.

No regulation requires a visitor register as such. Regulation 14 of the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 requires an emergency plan that covers evacuation and communication with everyone at the workplace. A current list of who is on site is one way to meet it. Our guide on how long to keep sign in records covers retention.

Visitor sign in for offices, schools and worksites

SettingWhat sign in usually has to handleSiteKey price
OfficeVisitors and couriers at reception, host emails, badges, and an accurate list for a fire drill.$30 a month
School or tertiary campusVisitors and contractors during the day, often through more than one entrance.$30 a month, with a QR sign at each entrance
WorksiteContractors as well as visitors, inductions, and hazards that change week to week.$50 a month

Prices exclude GST. Each extra site at a different location is $10 a month.

Visitor sign in and contractor sign in

Visitors and contractors use the same QR sign and the same kiosk, with different checks. A visitor reads the hazards and signs in. A contractor also needs a current induction and any training you require, and SiteKey blocks the sign in if that is missing. The contractor sign in page covers that side.

Common questions

What is a visitor sign in system? +

A visitor sign in system replaces the paper visitor book. It records who came in, which company they are from, and when they arrived and left, and it keeps a live list of who is on site. SiteKey does this through a QR code on the visitor’s own phone or a kiosk at reception.

Do visitors need to download an app? +

No. Scanning the QR sign with the phone camera opens the sign in form in the browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Does SiteKey notify the host when a visitor arrives? +

Yes. The visitor chooses who they are visiting from your staff list, or types the name, and SiteKey emails that person when the visitor signs in.

Can SiteKey print visitor badges? +

Yes. With a label printer at the reception kiosk, SiteKey prints a badge with the visitor’s name, company, host, date and a pass number. The badge has a barcode the visitor scans at the desk to sign out.

Do I need a kiosk or tablet at reception? +

No. Visitors can sign in on their own phone from the QR sign. A kiosk at reception is an option for sites where visitors arrive at a front desk.

How does visitor sign in help in an evacuation? +

The live on-site list shows everyone signed in, with name, company and time in. The person running the evacuation opens it on a phone at the assembly point and checks people off.

How much does a visitor sign in system cost in New Zealand? +

Published NZ prices we read on 27 October 2026 included Clockie at $29 a month for one location and five staff, SmartSignIn Lite at $30 a month for 20 visitor visits, and Sign In App Core at NZ$835 a site a year. SiteKey is $30 a month for an office with no limit on visits, excluding GST. The comparison page lists the rest.

Does WorkSafe require a visitor register? +

No regulation requires a visitor register. Regulation 14 of the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 requires an emergency plan covering evacuation and communication with everyone at the workplace. A register is one way of knowing who is there.

Can one system handle visitors and contractors? +

Yes. SiteKey uses the same QR sign for both. Contractors also go through the induction and training check before they can sign in.
