What sign-in looks like on a SiteKey site

One scan at the gate, on everyone’s own phone. Here is the whole thing in under 30 seconds.

What’s in this video

SiteKey gives New Zealand build sites a simple way to manage site access. Visitors and contractors sign in with one QR scan on their own phone, with no app to download and no shared tablet at the gate. Inductions and a daily JSA are captured on site before work starts. A live register shows exactly who is on site right now, ready for evacuations, audits and handovers. And the same reusable QR signs move with you from project to project. Site access, sorted. Everything your site needs, nothing it doesn't

SiteKey is built for operational sites. Every feature is designed around the real challenges of warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, and office access control.

SiteKey in action across operational sites

QR pass check-in

Staff and contractors get a personal QR pass. One scan at the kiosk checks them in — and out again. No apps, no logins, no friction.

Training compliance gate

Link to your training platform and SiteKey automatically blocks site entry for anyone whose induction has expired or was never completed.

Visitor management

Walk-in visitors self-register at the kiosk, complete a site induction, and sign out when they leave — no admin involvement required.

Live evacuation list

Your admin dashboard shows exactly who is on-site right now. In an emergency, one tap gives you a complete, accurate evacuation roll.

Contractor pre-registration

Contractors register before they arrive, complete required training online, and arrive ready to scan in — no paper forms, no delays.

Automatic sign-out

Everyone still showing as on-site at end of day is automatically signed out. Records stay clean without any manual clean-up.

Need the induction training too? We build that.

SiteKey checks compliance — but the training has to exist first. If you need site induction training built from scratch, we design and deliver it on a bespoke digital learning management system. Professional e-learning that connects seamlessly with SiteKey's compliance gate, so the whole system runs end to end without stitching together separate tools or suppliers.

Built for the job, not for someone else’s business

The system we were using before was the Rolls Royce of site access. Beautiful, full of features, and built for someone else’s business. We were paying for things we’d never use and spending more time managing the software than managing the site.

SiteKey is different. It does exactly what we need. Visitors, contractors and my team sign in by scanning a QR code at the site entrance, acknowledging the site risks and I get notified. No training required, no manual to read. My guys just pick up their phone and it works.

The whole thing costs less per day than my morning coffee. For a small building company, that matters.

Common questions

Everything you need to know about site access management

Answers to the questions NZ site managers ask most.

What is site access management software? +

Site access management software controls and records who enters and exits a worksite. It typically includes visitor sign-in, contractor pre-registration, compliance checks, and live evacuation lists. SiteKey is a cloud-based site access management platform built for New Zealand businesses — covering construction sites, warehouses, farms, orchards, and industrial facilities.

Does New Zealand's Health and Safety at Work Act require site access records? +

The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) requires businesses to identify and manage risks to anyone on their site. Maintaining accurate records of who is on site — including visitors and contractors — is a key part of meeting that duty of care. SiteKey provides a real-time occupancy record and a printable evacuation list to support your HSWA obligations.

How does QR code site check-in work? +

Each person registered in SiteKey receives a unique QR code — delivered by email or printed on a pass. When they arrive at your site, they scan the QR code with any smartphone. SiteKey records their arrival time, checks their compliance status, and adds them to the live site occupancy list. When they leave, they scan again to check out. No app download is required.

Can SiteKey manage contractor and subcontractor compliance? +

Yes. SiteKey includes a compliance gate that can be configured to prevent contractors from checking in if they haven't met your requirements — such as completing a site induction, holding a current certification, or finishing required training modules. Contractors who don't meet the criteria are flagged at the gate and cannot proceed until they do.

What types of businesses use site access management software in New Zealand? +

Site access management is used across a wide range of industries in New Zealand, including construction and building sites, manufacturing plants, warehouses and distribution centres, farms and orchards, cold storage facilities, industrial worksites, and commercial buildings. Any workplace where controlling who is on site matters — for safety, compliance, or security — benefits from a site access management system.

Can SiteKey connect to a training or induction system? +

Yes — for businesses that want to gate site access on training completion, SiteKey's compliance gate can verify whether a person has completed required inductions or training before allowing them to check in. For businesses that don't yet have online training in place, we can also build site induction content on a bespoke digital learning management system that connects directly with SiteKey.

How quickly can my business get started with SiteKey? +

Most SiteKey customers are up and running within a few days. We handle the setup — configuring your site, importing your people, and generating QR passes. You don't need IT resources or a lengthy onboarding process. Once your site is configured, your team can start using it immediately from any smartphone.

How is SiteKey different from enterprise visitor management systems? +

Enterprise visitor management systems are typically built for corporate office lobbies — expensive, complex to set up, and priced per user or per scan. SiteKey is built specifically for New Zealand operational sites: construction, industrial, agricultural, and logistics. It's a flat monthly fee with no per-scan charges, takes days not months to deploy, and includes compliance gating and live evacuation features that corporate lobby systems don't offer.
